WHAT IS ACNE?

Acne is a common skin disorder that causes inflamed sebaceous glands (a microscopic gland in the skin which secretes sebum into the hair follicles to lubricate the skin) in the skin. The inflammation appears as different types of breakouts such as blackheads, pustules, and cysts. It occurs when the glands start to produce more sebum (oil) than the pores are capable to bring up to the skin surface. The pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria.

The most common sites of acne are the face, back (bacne), chest, hairline, neck and shoulders since these are the parts of the body where the most and largest sebaceous follicles are located.

Acne can be stressful and create mental suffering to many individuals. It is important to start the treatment on time in order to reduce the risk of following scars and discoloration. Consult with a dermatologist if the acne is severe to avoid permanent scarring.

A proper skincare routine for acne from the drugstore or medical grade face moisturizer for acne prone skin and face wash for oily acne prone skin are important to use consistently for months to combat clogged pores and dry acne prone skin.

Cicamed ASD result oriented cleansing gel for acne prone skin, moisturizer for blemish prone skin, and 3-in-1 spot treatment for acne scars and discoloration are great additions to a daily skincare routine to control acne.
