In fact, there is no existing cure for acne. You can significantly control and reduce you acne through proper and regular skin care regimen. However, if you are suffering from tougher forms of acne, you should consult a physician for treatment options. Treating acne requires patience and perseverance and early treatment is the best way to prevent following scars and discolorations.

It is very common that people with acne mistreat their skin leading to exacerbation of acne. Acne has nothing to do with unclear skin. Washing the face many times a day does not improve the acne, it actually worsen it!

It is important to clean your skin in order to reduce the bacterial growth in the pores. Use a face wash that is gentle and effective two times a day. It is also important to exfoliate away dead skin cells to clear the pores and speed up the cell turnover. This is preferably done with salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Be careful when using face scrubs since the scrubbing effect from the grains can compromise the skin’s protective barrier and increase irritation. The skin needs lots of moist in order to maintain the natural balance. Dehydrated skin increases the production of sebum to compensate for the lost moisture. This can lead to oily skin and clogged pores. It is also common that people with acne believe they have oily skin and use products for that. A lot of these products dry out your skin and worsen the problem. Try to avoid make-up as much as possible since it can clog the pores and prevent the skin from breathing. Squeezing the pimples is often very tempting but it may worsen the inflammation. Â
